The main objective of The Advanced Design & Manufacturing Lab is rechearching about the manufacturing technology and techniques for the domestic industry. To obtain the effective product design, CAD/CAM/CAE technology has been typically used for analyzing the products. Furthermore, this lab emphasize on the high-precision manufacturing technology which is necessary for the special applications. The main products that manufactured in this lab cover many kinds of industry, including, automotive parts, general mechanical parts, electronics components..

The main manufacturing technology used in this lab are NC (Numerical Control) and RP (Rapid Prototying). To manufacture the complicated and delicated part (e.g. jewelry works and electronics part), the rapid prototyping technology has been mainly used. On the other hand, CNC has been typically implemented on the parts that need higher precision(e.g. mechanical parts and mold).

Moreover, this lab provide a lot of services for the design industry, including, product R&D, Rapid Prototyping, CNC machining, and molding-casting.

  • Reseach and provide the knowledge of CAD/CAM/CAE for the associated industries.
  • Develop the computer oriented system for advanced manufacturing system.
  • Transfer technology to the part design and manufacturing industries.
  • Provide the CAD/CAM/CAE specelist and training.

This technique is appropriated for the complicate and small parts which using for the conceptual prototype, mold-casting, as well as the final products. The special property material, including resin and wax (e.g. SI10, SI50, and S100), suits for various types of application. The main RP types used in this lab consists of SLA (Stereo Lithography Apparatus) and SLS (Selective Laser Sintering) which typically producing the prototype at 50 microns resolution.

CNC plays important role in production industry today because of high-precision and high productivity. The researches of this lab focus on the new type of CNC techniques such as parallel 5-axis machine, real-time CNC prototyping , and open-source NC code translating software.

CAD/CAM/CAE has been applied in many product design and manufacturing industry today. This technology can help the designer in all design and development processes, such as, prototyping, detail design, product assembly, product analysis, as well as the mass production.

According to this laboratory focus on the robots and automations, most of the products that result from CAD/CAM/CAE technology are mechanical parts, especially the complex robot and machine components. This technology covers every aspects for product manufacturing. Firstly, CAD is used for the part design process, including, detail design, product assembly, and digital mockup simulation. Secondly, CAM is used for simulating and strategic planning of production process, including CNC machining, molding-casting, welding, as well as rapid prototyping. Finally, CAE is used for product analysis, for example, finite element technique and stress analysis. The analysis is used for product optimized and definitely important for every products. From the integrated of these three techniques, the CAD/CAM/CAE technology can save the development cost & time and increasing. In addition, this technology can improve product quality also the productivity for all industries..

This laboratory has a lot up-to-dated softwares and tools that fully support this technology, not only for research and academics purposes, but the industrial services also.
